Support Starter Kit FAQ

💡 General Questions

What is the Support Starter Kit (SSK)?

The Support Starter Kit is a free 4-part subscription, provided every other month, designed for young adults with cancer. It helps the patient feel more connected and supported during treatment. The subscription begins with a welcome kit, followed by three themed kits to be shared with the patient’s selected supporters.

Who is eligible to receive the kits?

To be eligible, the patient must:

  • Be 18–39 years old
  • Live in the U.S.
  • Be newly diagnosed (within the last 6 months) or currently in active treatment
  • Be able to read and understand English (kits are only available in English at this time)

As part of the eligibility process, the form may request contact information for a health professional to verify treatment status. Once the patient is confirmed eligible, they’ll have the opportunity to invite up to 3 supporters to be part of the Support Starter Kit experience

What’s included in the kits?

Each kit includes helpful information and fun, supportive activities that encourage connection between the patient and their supporters. Every delivery is designed to be something they can enjoy together, whether they are side‑by‑side or staying connected from a distance.

How much does it cost?
There is no cost. The kits are fully funded through donations, sponsors, and community partners.

🧑‍⚕️ For Health Professionals

How can I help a patient sign up?

You can refer a patient directly through our website using a brief eligibility form. Once submitted, we’ll take care of the rest. The patient will receive a welcome message and their first kit shortly after confirmation.

What if the patient signs up first?

If the patient completes the form first, we’ll reach out to the listed health professional to confirm their eligibility before shipping the first kit.

What information is required from me?

In addition to the patient’s information, you’ll be asked to provide your name, clinic name, work email, phone number, and confirm that the patient meets the eligibility criteria. A preview of the questionnaire can be viewed here.

👩‍🦰 For Patients

Can the patient invite friends or family to participate?
Yes. The patient can invite up to three supporters (e.g., friends or family members) to participate. Each supporter will receive a welcome kit and one additional themed kit to share with the patient throughout the program.
Is the b-there app required?
While the app is recommended for the best experience (to manage kits, get reminders, and connect with supporters), communication via email or text is also available based on the patient’s preference.
What if the patient’s address or contact info changes?
